WHO IS THE ARTIST...
Lorraine Coll
I am a Contempory Abstract Artist based in Derry, Ireland. I graduated from Manchester School of Art and Design with a degree in Textile Design with print design being my chosen specialist subject.
I worked as a self-employed Artist in Manchester for many years before returning to my birth place in Derry in 2013. After taking a career break from working in the library Service I decided to return to painting, building my studio at home and balancing life as a full time mum to my little boy.
Although my love for Textile design is strong I’ve found ways to bring this to life through canvas painting. Through my love of designing and creating surface pattern I have transferred my skills through the use of various mixed media and I believe this is portrayed throughout my work. I don’t specialise in any particular style of work as you will see from my portfolio. I paint what comes naturally to me and I believe in painting something for everyone.

...HOW IT WORKS
Commission Work
I am currently taking requests for Commission work, from both private and business customers. If I’m being honest it’s something I enjoy doing the most. With a background in Textile Design and print I thoroughly enjoy working on Interior projects, devising schemes and exploring various colour ways to enhance the aesthetic of your home or business. I will put you at ease in the hope that I will create you a custom piece of Art that you will love forever.

THE PROCESS
THE PLANNING STAGE
After initial contact I will request pictures of your chosen space and surrounding areas. Don’t be surprised if I ask for pictures of your entire home, this is to help me gauge your sense of style. As everyone’s tastes are different it is important that your piece of work not only suites the room it will be in but the entire home/ business.
PRICING
Pricing commission pieces will depend on the size and nature of the work agreed.
Once this has been decided by both the client and myself a quote will then be sent.
THE AGREEMENT & DEPOSIT
On agreement of the colour ways and sizing, style etc I can begin the Commission process on the basis a 20% deposit has been paid.
TIMESCALE
Commission time scales do vary depending on the nature of the piece for example, size, work load etc. However after confirmation of the order I will indicate a time frame of when your work will be completed. Generally it’s a four / five week turn around for each piece from the booking date.
FRAMING
I frame all my own canvas by hand with real woods such as walnut but other materials may be requested. Framing is completely optional and if you decide against framing all work will still arrive “Ready to hang”. Other framing services are available via request and will be priced based on the framers quote.
DELIVERY
Delivery is available world-wide on all my current pieces and Commission work.
Depending on your location I will factor this in on your commission quote. If you are a local customer, collection is also available from my studio.
